“Are you hearing those screams? See, my people ain’t free. They just want us to freeze.” – Magic,  by RuudAwakening

Careful or this one will go over your head. RuudAwakening is that rare rapper who brings a complete subversive level to his rhymes, using sarcasm and brutal honesty to deliver atypical messages over hard modern trap/rap music. Much like fellow Floridian rapper Denzel Curry or Flatbush duo The Underachievers, you may hear a ‘flossing’ lyric or ‘flexing’ lyric mixed with the politic, but to dismiss this as typical trap/rap music would be a significant oversight. RA has a lot to say over a sprawling 10 tracks; no guests, just one man’s passion.

A truly unique rapper who vocalizes with his chest and doesn’t pull punches or show his heart on his sleeve; he keeps his heart 10 feet in front of him when he spits. Heavy trap beats and a plethora of superb producers are the perfect backdrop for RuudAwakening‘s hot-blooded, melodic vocals laced with an atypical wisdom that comes from an artist who not only studied Gang Starr’s bars but also reads revolutionary philosophers like J. Krishnamurti.

RuudAwakening‘s debut full-length album “CATHARSIS” refers to the purification and purgation of emotions—particularly pity and fear—through art or any extreme change in emotion that results in renewal and restoration,is the title of his debut album and to him is the awakening from depression, fear, misery, and insecurity to a place of abiding strength, assurance, and peace.

From the artist:
I wanted to create something with a lot of feeling, meaning, honesty and sincerity. I believe that I have. I want my listeners to be able to look at my core, and perhaps see themselves there as well. This music is for everybody. Catharsis is here to heal you.

“If there’s a heaven then we all going, If there’s a people then we all chosen, If there’s a idol then we all golden, If there’s a lava then we all molten” – Fallen From Grace
