It’s always a great loss when a talented musician dies, especially one as gifted as the powerhouse R & B vocalist Curtis Hairston. His voice is pitch perfect and overflowing with soul, and it makes you wonder what he could have achieved had he been able to keep making music. Curtis’s work reminds you of a day when R & B music was synonymous with soul music, and we can only hope that more artists take up this mantle. During his lifetime he enjoyed both critical acclaim and a strong fanbase (especially in Asia and Europe where he often performed). Curtis passed away in 1996 at the young age of 34 of kidney failure. He was a lifelong diabetic.

Reverse Spin Entertainment is currently managing Curtis Hairston’s catalogue in efforts to raise awareness about his work. To preview and purchase his beautiful track “Elysian Lady”, visit this iTunes page.
