It’s always inspiring to hear intelligent hip hop artists who are more socially conscious than socially destructive in their expression. The album “Sound Investment” is hot off the press and comes to us from independent hip hop super duo Good Biz. Sitting within the “conscious hip hop” genre, MC’s KP and Bobbie Fine bring a refreshing soul, meaning and intelligence to the genre. Having worked with underground kingpins such as Bun B, Illmaculate, X-Clan, YZ, Vursatyl, and DJ Wicked, Good Biz seem very much ready to ascend from the underground at high speed.

Both rappers are strong in their own right, and their unique styles compliment each other. The slow burner “Ambition”, with it’s ice cold samples and smoother than smooth guest vocals, is a definite highlight.

7 years in the making and more than worth delving into for any hip hop or r & b enthusiast, “Sound Investment” was released on 11/11/11 and can be downloaded at iTunes. Don’t forget to keep tabs on their Facebook page.

Recommended for fans of The Roots, The Fugees, Talib Kweli, Mos Def and Erykah Badu.
