SEX SLAVES – “Call of the Wild” written by Rory Richardson edited by Cyrus Rhodes

Overall rating: 4.5/5

Sex Slaves are a 3 piece hard rock band that comes to us from New York. Reading from their Bio: Born out of the gutter and raised on a deserted street corner in the Lower East Side of New York City, SEX SLAVES sound like they’ve just awoken from an all-night binge of booze, cigarettes, and cheap sex. There hasn’t been one slimy dive in this whole wretched world that hasn’t been given a sleaze-pop makeover, and a hefty dose of sass by these three street walkin’ cheetahs.

In this overly saturated genera/market with a plethora of artists coming out of the woodwork, armed with nothing more than a PC, Microphone, a guitar and a crappy sounding CD – it’s nice to know there are a few bands that can still rock out. These new artists manage push their music out to the world and much of it do I dare say is substandard to say the least. So what do bands like The White Stripes and Green Day have that Sex Slaves don’t? Not much really if you ask me save the multi million dollar promotional machines and major record label support. Sex Slaves break the mold with their powerhouse sound and delivers invigorating music that has a deep seeded hard rock feel to it. The band is red hot and the production value is as good as it gets for an Independent Artist. Musical overtones that will remind you of acts from Classic Kiss, Motley Crue, Foxboro Hot Tubs, Offspring, Blink-182. But honestly let me go on record and say there’ isn’t a band out there right now that can toe to toe with Sex Slaves. Right now after hearing their music and checking out a few of their live clips – they are the ultimate bad boy band out there right now. I don’t say shit like that often. All in all a well rounded CD that has much to offer the listener. Aapparently there are still a few bands out there believe in melting your face and making your ears bleed. Shame on me!

Final Word: Sex Slaves stand out from other Indie-Alt Artists in a good way within this very saturated singer/songwriter market. Their answer to mundane music is to deliver something unique with a breath of fresh air, a rumble tumble signature sound and a powerful message to call their own. The strong suit of Sex Slaves is their passion and their ability to write you a powerful piece of music via solid musicianship and naughty messages that speak to the heart. One would be wise to keep a watchful eye on these gays over the years to come. At the end of the day Sex Slaves truly has something special to offer music a fans all over the world – especially those that still believe in Rock n’ Roll.
