Australian Alternative Electronic Musician and Producer Tenuous Threads has released debut EP “Mettle” June 6, 2021. The album showcases the artist’s refreshingly left-field approach to every aspect of songwriting and production, from the purposely tense vocal melodies to the moody arrangements. “Mettle” is an essential new release for fans of experimental rock, electronic or alternative music.
Artist Biography:
Hidden in the hills that separate the coastline of eastern Australia from the vast interior, artist, composer and producer Tenuous Threads creates tense, original soundscapes in his studio surrounded by bushland.
“The mist often creeps down between the hills and fills the low lying areas like a lake. It’s a really inspirational environment in which to create music, you can even hear some of my field recordings in my tracks.”
Tenuous Threads holds an honors degree in molecular biology and the drive to make sense of complex phenomena bleeds into the music he creates. After starting as a bass player, then learning guitar, drums and piano, TT started recording his own music.
“I’m endlessly fascinated why certain combinations of notes elicit such visceral emotions and just like in science, once I understand something then I try and use it to my benefit. Very few things happen by accident when I write, I’m quite meticulous and analytical in my approach.”
Drawing from a wide palette of influences as diverse as Miles Davis’s“Sketches of Spain” and Nine Inch Nails’ brooding classic “The Downward Spiral”, Tenuous Threads is at home with the atypical.
“I write and perform all the music on the tracks myself. I draw from a wide range of influences and I get bored with a specific genre very quickly. That is why I make music that is stylistically disparate. For my latest EP, I wanted to be able to tie the tunes together in some way so I came up with the idea of using the lyrics to unify the songs. I was inspired by nordic noir to develop a narrative that explored the emotional roller coaster of a girl who has been abducted and held prisoner. Each track on Mettle explores a different phase of her psychological journey, from her abduction to her eventual escape…”
